100 miles south since our departure

Sometimes one just gets lucky. Patience contributed to our luck. Bob uses an app called Windy. Windy forecasts the winds and swells and boy has it been accurate a few days out. Our original plan was to leave Ensenada the day after Christmas but pesky storms delayed our plans a month. Finally Friday the 27th showed the seas to be following 5 foot swells 13-15 seconds apart & the winds 6-10 knots giving us a good push south. Perfect conditions to travel. As the evening approached & dinner discussions were underway, we looked out to a mackerel clouded sky filling the entire horizon. As you turn your head side to side, it was as if we were watching a slow motion movie of special effects and technicolor. The skies lit up like a fireplace spraying the skies with gold, orange and amber flames. A truly spectacular 20 minute show gifted the end of our day, making us smile as we headed into our overnight passage on course to Turtle Bay.

Good morning Cedros Island

A little dazed from a jagged night’s sleep catching winks between watches, you’re in a dreamy stupored state witnessing the dawning light with cloudy skies slowly lighting up in gold, yellow and grays. Scores of California porpoises descend on the bow of the boat creating silvery splashes as they flip their tails. I’ve never known coffee to taste this good and realize I’m not dreaming
